Dr. Jim Quigley
Dr. Jim Quigley serves as the Executive Director of Calf Notes Consulting, LLC, a consulting firm based in St. Petersburg, Florida, USA. His primary responsibilities include leading the company and its various initiatives, such as providing consulting services to dairy farms, calf-rearing operations, and dairy-related businesses. Through his website and customized consulting services, Dr. Quigley delivers popular science content and technical outreach to clients worldwide. He also holds an adjunct professor position at the University of Florida.
Prior to founding Calf Notes Consulting, LLC, Dr. Quigley worked as the Technical Lead for Young Animal Nutrition at Cargill Animal Nutrition. In this role, he oversaw Cargill’s technical support and training activities related to the nutrition and management of calves and heifers. He also served as Vice President and Director of Calf Operations at APC, Inc. (Ankeny, Iowa), where he managed sales, marketing, research and development (R&D), and technical activities for the calf operations division. Additionally, Dr. Quigley has held positions including Vice President of R&D at Diamond V, Associate Professor of Dairy Science at the University of Tennessee, and Dairy Nutritionist at Cargill.
Dr. Quigley earned his PhD from Virginia Tech (USA) in 1985, following the completion of his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at the University of New Hampshire. His research focuses on calf nutrition, health, and management. He has published over 250 peer-reviewed journal articles and abstracts on the nutrition and health of calves and heifers, and has delivered presentations on calf management topics across the globe. For his research contributions, he has received awards from multiple scientific associations. Dr. Quigley also maintains the website CalfNotes.com, an internationally recognized resource for calf management information, which has been translated into five languages.
